Services

Five services. One standard.

Interior, exterior, wood refinishing, new construction, and commercial painting across the Big Island’s Kona and Kohala Coasts.

Every job runs the same way: we answer, we show up when we say, we do the job.

A freshly painted home on the Big Island by Magic Brush Painting

01

Interior Painting

The same sequence every time.

We move the furniture and protect every surface. We patch the walls, paint the ceilings and walls, pull the masking, and put the furniture back where it was. One room or the whole house.

What you’re paying for is the part you see up close: sharp lines, even coverage, a clean house when we leave, and a crew that communicates from the first call to the final walkthrough.

02

Exterior Painting

Big Island exteriors fail at the prep, not the paint.

So prep is most of the job:

A thorough wash

salt · mildew · oxidation · growth

Scraping and sanding every failing area

Wood rot removed and repaired

carpentry or epoxy

Spot priming

bare wood · metal · patches

Caulking joints, trim gaps, failed seams

keeps water out

Rust treated before any metal gets coated

Then a 100 percent acrylic system built for this climate. We match the sheen to the surface: satin or low-lustre on walls, semi-gloss on trim. And straight talk on color: dark paint absorbs Big Island heat and fades faster, so lighter colors last longer and keep the house cooler.

Systems we use: Sherwin-Williams Emerald or Duration, Benjamin Moore Aura or Regal Select.

What a paint job lasts here

Economy job

3 to 5 years

Mid-grade paint, good prep

5 to 8 years

Premium system, proper prep

8 to 12+ years

Ocean-facing and high-UV surfaces take the biggest beating. We’ll tell you which tier your house actually needs.

Surfaces we coat: walls, fascia, eaves, window and door trim, railings, decks, metal roofs, rain gutters, and epoxy floors.

Wood Refinishing

Fine wood is its own craft.

Sikkens, now ProLuxe, maintenance and restoration for gates, entry doors, ceilings, Ohia posts, trellises, and trim, on a cycle that keeps fine wood from ever needing rescue.

04

Epoxy Floors

The prep is the whole job.

We grind every floor down first, so the coating bonds into the concrete instead of sitting on top and peeling. Garage floors are the hardest test, and grinding is the only way to keep hot tires from lifting the coat. Residential garages and commercial floors, scheduled around your hours.

05

New Construction

Finish work for the island’s builders.

New construction finish work is its own discipline, and we work it as your sub, on your schedule. When the paint stage moves because framing did, we move with it. Razor lines at punch-list, and the walkthrough is ready when the homeowner walks it.

Custom homes from Captain Cook to Waimea, including the build at Lot 23, Kohanaiki. We hold to the spec, keep the site clean, and keep your timeline yours.

Commercial Painting

Scheduled around your business, not ours.

Restaurants, condominiums, and commercial buildings from Kailua-Kona to Waimea, including Foster’s Kitchen and Humpy’s Big Island Alehouse.

Commercial work is scheduling work. We plan around tenants and operating hours, keep communication current, and treat keys and access like the responsibility they are.

“It was great working with Jon and the Magic Brush crew. They did an outstanding job on what could have been a very complicated project.”

Bryan Graboyes, Property Manager, Holo Holo Ku at Parker Ranch
